Welcome to the John Galliano jungle. Under the creative directive of Bill Gaytten, it’s not a savage place, rather a more lighthearted romp through the wilderness. For day, there were trapeze jackets and A-line dresses finished with wood-veneer collars. The utility jackets and shorts with spiral paper-straw bob hats did have a Dora the Explorer sense of gung-ho, but alongside the bamboo-print and banana-leaf paillette party dresses, they felt as fresh as cut grass. Evening predominated with further embellishments, including the ornate resin foliage necklaces and tree-bark lamé column dresses. Yes, a glittering artisan path was being forged through the chaparral.
For the youthful market that the label is cheerfully courting, the accessories will surely catch the eye of the prom-goer or party-seeker. Each breezy dress was grounded with wooden-soled geisha-style wedges, decorated with foil-leather corsages and quirky green rubber soles—brilliant fun.
