Kate Moss for Vogue US December 2013
Fashion Director Tonne Goodman had all of one day to scout locations for “The Silk Road,” which sent actor Chiwetel Ejiofor and model Kate Moss cavorting through Istanbul in this season’s sophisticated resortwear. It required a ten-hour whirlwind tour of the ancient city—a rather difficult task in a crowded metropolis with nearly fourteen million residents (not to mention thousands of roaming cats). Nevertheless, the resulting two-day shoot included visits to the Archaeological Museums, New Mosque, and Galata Mawlawi House, plus diversions through countless markets and shops. And the perfect end to a long day? A sunset boat ride that carried the stars and crew under the Bosphorus Bridge and back to the Four Seasons Hotel. It turns out Moss had it just right when she deemed the woman in the photos a “glamorous jet-setter.”
